Mendocino and Lake County perimeter, evacuations

A 35-mile-long swath of Mendocino and Lake counties is underneath obligatory evacuation order due to two fires that began inside an hour of one another Friday.

The Ranch Hearth is burning alongside Freeway 20, south of Potter Valley; the River Hearth is 12 miles to the south, north of Hopland.

CalFire’s Monday morning report stated the Ranch Hearth is at 35,076 acres — greater than twice the dimensions given in Sunday night’s report — and 5 % contained. The River Hearth is at 20,911 acres, additionally 5 % contained.

The evacuation space in Lake County wraps across the western shore of Clear Lake, from the city of Higher Lake to south of Kelseyville.

In Mendocino County, it stretches from south of Freeway 20 to Potter Valley.

Freeway 175 is closed between Freeway 29, close to Lakeport, to Hopland.

The River Hearth has burned inside a mile of U.S. Freeway 101 between Hopland and Ukiah.
